150 years ago, Franz Joseph I inaugurated the Vienna Ringstrasse. Just a few years earlier, in 1858, the project was the subject of an urban architectural competition, which included a total of 85 submissions, only 30 of which have been preserved today. The book e xamines the Ringstrasse competition in its broader historical and urban architectural context. It will prove an invaluable resource in European architectural history.
